Decking is a very popular garden feature in Northern Ireland. We are based in Antrim and will professionally clean and oil most types of decking (hard and softwood) in towns close by such as Newtonabbey, Ballymena, Crumlin and Ballyclare.

Prior to cleaning any decked area its important to assess whether any pre-treatment is required first. Decking is a surface that is very dificult to keep clean as damp wood is the perfect environment for moss and algae to thrive. Green algae in particular can be very slippery when wet and will make any decked surface quite dangerous to walk on when damp. This can be a real health and safety issue, especially on commercial premises , so keeping the decking clean is a priority.

We use moss removers and anti-fungicides to kill off moss and algae on decking. Once this has been done, we can clean the decking with a high powered pressure washer to remove any dead moss, plus any dirt, grime or bird stains that may be present on the surface. After pressure cleaning, we can then apply a good quality decking oil to help keep your decking looking as good as new. The decking should be re-oiled every 1-2 years to prevent deterioration of the wood.
